Good morning, Vancouver! It’s spring break!  It’s a typically rainy day, but that’s not going to stop us from making the most of it!

Another reason why I love The Burrard Hotel is that it has this incredibly sweet café attached to the lobby that has Blenz coffee and tea, very delicious looking baked goods and treats and is licensed for wine! The white and wood interior and teal and yellow accents make it that much more chic 😀

In keeping with the rest of the hotel even the café offers cheeky little sayings and touches 😉  What’s not to love!  Makes starting the morning even more fun!

March 16th, 2013. Fancy Time at Yew @ The Four Seasons

After brunch with Joyce I rendezvoused with Tracy downtown.  It’s been a while since Tracy was downtown with a gal-pal!  We strolled through Holt Renfrew trying on high-end shoes, and browsing the gorgeous and (some not so cute) haute couture bags 😉

Tracy was just so happy to be out of the house and having some much deserved me-time that we also stopped in at Yew at the Four Season’s for a snack!

Tracy was intent on getting a cocktail to make the most of the experience, but since I’d be driving us back I opted for a delicious little Cappuccino.  It joyfully came served with an in-house made Biscotti 🙂  Gotta love the extra little touch and detail that I’ve come to expect from Yew ♥

For my nibbles I ordered the Organic Local Apple Tart.  Of course this wasn’t just your average apple tart.  No, this was an apple tart made of Cox’s Pippin and Liberty French apples,aged cheddar ice cream and hazelnuts.  Thin shavings of the cheddar and a caramely glaze garnished the slate that the dessert was served on.

Rich, buttery pastry encompassed the sweet and tart apples which were not soggy and still retained a hint of that great apple crunch.  I’m not a huge fan of nuts, so the hazelnuts were just nuts to me, but I loved nibbling on the cheese shavings held between my fingers and that ice cream was super creamy and smooth with just a breath of that rich cheesy flavor.

 As always, a very satisfying experience and service, as always, was prompt, pleasant and helpful.  Yew gets a thumbs up every time 😀

  I was meeting a couple former colleagues at Spaghetteria for lunch.  It had been a while since I’d last seen them and Ms. V had coupons to this place located on New West’s foodie street aka 6th Street.

  This is obviously an older establishment on this well loved street and when I arrived I was almost lost because the store front was going through some renovations.  But find it I did.

 The interior definitely could use an update what with the sun faded plastic table cloths, the dusty looking vases and fake flowers.  Everything about the place reads out-dated…including the food.  I wasn’t wowed by the obviously frozen seafood in the pasta, the bland  sauces and the “meh” single-noted-ness of the dishes.

I hope that with all the renos they also update the food!

  After enquiring into several places I was finally able to find a place that was open for brunch on New Year’s Day!  Special day, special birthday; what better way than to celebrate it with a special meal!

  Since Red Wagon doesn’t take reservations we put our names down and then went across the street to Starbucks for our morning coffee fix and to wait out the super long line 🙂

Hello~~~ Pumpkin Spice Latte!  What would autumn be if there were no pumpkin flavored items?  The PSL has been one of my absolute favorite drinks since Starbucks first started doing them….so much so that my girlfriend Alisa and I text each other when we’ve had our first PSLs of the season 🙂

But this gorgeous indian summer weather is sticking around so I also powered through the day with yet another drink…an Iced Salted Caramel Mocha 🙂  Cuz you know, I’m on the whole salted caramel train ;D

  My usual Spanish Latte at Caffe Divano~ a gorgeous cup of velvety espresso and condensed milk.  Probably my favorite drink here until they get the Maple Latte 😉

I’ve always loved Second Cup for the ambience, the quality beverages and the variety of yummy treats.  I definitely have favorite drinks here 🙂  Even before Starbucks, Second Cup was where I developed a taste and love for coffee!

It’s just sad that they haven’t been able to cross over to the West Coast.  I really miss it in Vancouver, so when I’m in an area where there is Second Cup locations I really make an effort to gte in as much as I can!

It’s the morning of the AllTV Korean Culture Caravan finale and with all the work, sweat and tears I’ve put in for the past 4~5 months there’s definitely been a lot leading up to this day.  Excited, amped up and really needing a coffee to kick-start the day!

Double Shot Vanilla Latte is exactly what I need.  Smooth, strong and fragrant…Definitely helped me to stay calm and collected over the somewhat heavy conversation I was having with my boss this morning.

Us siblings wanted to spend some time all together, so we headed out for some Coffee Bun at the new location here in Coquitlam!  Yay~!

Cinnamon, Original & Garlic!  Made fresh in house all day everyday I was glad to see that it was just as good as the flagship location in North Van.  Super soft on the inside and delicious crusty glaze on the outside…. Just perfect!

Caffe Divano is really my favorite little neighborhood cafe in Port Moody.  With their 49th Parallel coffee, carefully handcrafted and highly caffinated drinks and always the great aroma of in house freshly baked goods it’s always nice to come here.

Unfortunately my boss doesn’t yet know I don’t like coconut and he ordered this Coconut Muffin with our coffees….I can say the frosting was sweet, the coconut was fresh and the muffin itself was yummy!

Perfectly flaky and crispy with a delicious soft-ish crumble on top encasing beautifully sweet, soft pear with that undeniably creamy-smooth flavor of vanilla balanced in to the danish.
