August 24th, 2012. Xiao Long Bao at Home
I love Xiao Long Bao as much as the next person, but sometimes you just can’t get your sorry ass out to Richmond for a decent soup dumpling. So what did I do? Picked up a bag of these babies from T&T!
I also picked up a head of cabbage for the sole purpose of lining my steaming pot. Placed the frozen dumplings down and proceeded to wait.
Voila! Not the most amazing certainly, the dumpling skin wasn’t too thick or doughy, the filling inside WAS a little too clumped and just one little blob, and a few of the dumplings cracked as they were defrosting and the soup leaked…but by no means was it terrible. It still had good flavor, the soup was not bland, and it may be that I just needed to thaw them a little before steaming them. 3/5 🙂
