January 28th, 2012. Dine Out Cardero’s~!
Rae Bae is IN VANCOUVER! Sure, Vancouver may not be looking it’s best at this time of the year…but at least she’s got family here and it’s Dine Out season!
Rina, Rae and I met up at Cardero’s to take advantage of their $18 Dine Out lunch menu and the wonderful view 😉 The one good thing we could say was that it was at least a clear gray day 🙂
We asked for a window seat and got this great view of the harbor. Made us want to go out sailing…on a warmer day, of course!
Something warm to warm our hands and innards on this chilly day 🙂
Rachel went with the Manhattan Style Clam Chowder. Red chowder and not a cream base. She said the soup was okay…but nothing to write home about.
Rina had the Tomato Bocconcini Salad. She joked that she could just make this at home herself! A nice, light appetizer. Great to look at, though 🙂
I had the Sesame Crusted Albacore Tuna. Nice sear, nice crusting, fresh tuna. Nothing fancy, but the best out of the bunch 🙂
Lunch entree #1: Grilled Steelhead Salmon with a dijon sauce and served with grilled veggies. Rina commented that the salmon was cooked a tiny bit more than she’d like, but she had no problem with the veg. I still don’t understand…Giant vegtables are supposed to be fancy?
Lunch entree #2: Beef Short Ribs with mashed potato and veggies. The short ribs were dry, but the sauce helped. I loved that the mashed potato was so creamy, though!
Dessert? Some delicious Tiramisu and Cheesecake with Mixed Berry Sauce 😀
Though we were already quite full we coudn’t let the dessert go to waste 😉
While the food was not amazing, the service was fantastic, the ambience is great and the view is sepctacular! Fo another great deal like Dine Out I’d come back 🙂
