July 16th, 2011. Brunch at Onyx Steakhouse & Lounge
Nothing beats sleeping in on a Saturday. But errands have to be done and you have to get up at some point. But wait!! Running errands on an empty stomache could lead to impulse purchases and an irritable spirit…so I had to have some brunch first.
I walked into Onyx to sample their brunch items. I ordered the Grilled Prawn Club Sandwich with a side of Tomato Soup. The sandwich comes with avocado creme fraiche, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo on a toasted baguette.
First of all, I’m not a fan of the tomato soup. It was a cold soup and was just underseasoned. The sandwich…..well….I don’t see any grill marks on the prawns and they were also cold, but that doesn’t mean it was bad. Just false advertising. The prawns were nice a “crunchy”, meaning that they were not over-cooked or chewy. The bread was just right being chewy yet slightly crusty and the avocado creme fraiche really made the dish. It was refreshing, creamy and delicious! Perfect with the prawns.
I thought it was on okay lunch
