August 29th, 2010. Yoon Keun ♥ Krista = Wedding!
Finally the big day!! My wonderful cousin, Yoon Keun getting married! When he first told us about this girl that he was interested in 3 years ago I wondered just how much he was letting on about this girl that he got to know in passing at work. Slowly but surely we all began to find out just how deep the relationship was going. I was elated to see how happy my obba was just talking about her!
The wedding was in Burnaby at The Hart House. What a nice venue. The ceremony was on the back lawn with a tent set up for the reception following. Everything about the wedding was simple, yet elegantly executed. I loved the color scheme for the wedding, and the centerpieces of clear jars with vibrant fresh flowers to match were simple, yet beautiful. The paper lanterns were like globes inside the tent and the all white was a great contrast to the blues and greens of the outside backdrop.
After the ceremony the wedding party went to take wedding photos. Meanwhile the guests wandered around enjoying the beautiful weather, ogling the wedding gifts and eating cute finger food snacks 😉
Hors D’oeuvres #1: Cantaloup Slices wrapped in Prosciutto with Mint. This seems like the default appetizer wherever you go nowadays. Well, the softn sweetness of the melon was well balanced with the ham and the mint cut the fattiness very nicely. I guess it’s hard to get this one wrong…I thought the melon was a tad bit over-ripe, but it was still good, notwithstanding.
Hors D’oeuvres #2: Tuna Tartar on Crostini. Refreshing and savory all at once! I love tuna tartar ;D The crostini had just the right amount of crisp without being scrape-the roof-of-your-mouth scratchy and the tuna was nice and fresh…but it could have used some more flavor.
Finally….some bread!! My adorable little nephews tucked in, as did we all. We were getting pretty ravenous!
Our first course was a light Mixed Green Salad with Grapes and Lotus Root Chip. The little nephews really loved the lotus root chip and Sook Hyun Unni was talking about how it could be a healthy alternative to potato chips at home.
Main Course: Quarter Chicken with Fingerling Potatoes and Green Beans. The chicken was insanely juicy and perfectly cooked. Even the potatoes and beans were well seasoned. I was impressed that the chicken came out so well taking into consideration that they were mass cooking. Maybe I just got lucky with a good piece? But it looked like everyone else at my table got a good piece..so again: props to The Hart House!
Dessert: Creme Brulee Cheesecake with Raspberry Smear. How did they know I love creme brulee?? And yeah, dessert was great too. The crust was nice and buttery and the cheesecake was not too heavy and had a good sweetness with the special subtle burnt sugar flavor without tasting burnt.
I am genuinely excited for their new life together. I pray for love to see them through the good times as well as the difficult times. I pray that every day they find new meaning in life together and that they may always be blessed with supportive family and friends. Love you both!
