July 28th, 2010. Korean Backyard BBQ & Daniel Chung’s!
A BBQ at Daniel’s house was looooong overdue! We finally got the invite to partake in Korean Galbi, Outdoor activities, such as badminton and volleyball and even the promise of Karaoke…everything to make a summer BBQ a smash hit!
Guests trickled in starting at 6pm and as we waited for others enjoyed the fresh air, beautiful sun and admired the very large backyard. There aren’t too many houses we know of that can accomodate a game of badminton AND ultimate frisbee at the same time! The aroma of yummy Galbi on the grill was driving us crazy as well!
When we finally had enough people (and couldn’t curb our hunger any longer) we got down to business. Daniel (more like his mother) provided the bulk of the foods, such as the meat, side dishes and kimchi, while we, the guests, brought salads, drinks, chips and other snack varieties. Time to dig in!!!
So, other than the requisite Potato Salad and Lipton’s Sidekicks Bacon Carbonara Penne Daniel’s mom also whipped up some very yummy Shrimp and Egg Fried Rice! It was a big hit. Thanks, Mrs. C! 😀 Oh, and the Kimchi went really well too. Even the people who are afraid of spicy & fermented cabbage liked it!
Kelly (& Cody!) also brought a homemade salad: Spinach & Strawberries, Feta Cheese & Pumpkin Seeds (mixed seeds??)! Yum! A really wonderful summer salad!
I also brought a salad from my very own kitchen. Romain, Herbed Goat Cheese and thin slices of Cracked Pepper and Lime marinaded Grilled Steak in my own dressing! Yeah…the steak is burried at the bottom. My bad!!
Thank you, Mr. C., for manning the grill all evening and providing us with mounds and mounds of BBQed Galbi….it was way more than we could handle! The yummy goodness was generous and made us want to come back again the next day!!
Thanks to the Chung family we all had an amazing time and were full to the max for the rest of the night..!!
