March 13th, 2010. Blue Fin All-You-Can-Eat Buffet!
It’s located on the outskirts (?) of Seattle at Northgate Mall and is apparantly run by Koreans, so the salads and sides have a definite Korean spin. The rolls are all made right before your eyes, food refills were timed well, and there was a hot food station as well as a small, but ample, dessert station!
As you can see from the pictures, the rolls actually look pretty decent. there’s lots of variety (not just your standard filler california rolls!) and the raw fish looks fresh! It was a huge bonus that the food actually was fresh and you could see it being made. And they don’t just serve the cheapest stuff on a Japanese menu. But yeah..the egg drop soup…pretty gross. Seriously, don’t eat it! The tempura items were varied, if not a bit standard, and the Korean Galbi (short-ribs) were actually quite flavorful and tender. Bonus!
The real attraction though? The fact that they have a little cotton candy maker. If you know me….you know I can never pass up cotton candy! Anyways, there’s a cotton candy attendant who stands and twirls out cotton candy for the diners. Oh, and they have pumpkin pie in their selection of mini cakes and pies. SCORE!! I didn’t have room for any, but apparantly the vanilla soft serve was so amazing that my mom went for seconds even though she complained of being too full and ruining her diet! Mom says it’s super soft and super yummy!
